Art of Wine & Art du Vin is currently promoting and distributing all the wines from Delfosse winery in Virginia.We do think in promoting local wineries in the Washington DC market because of their great quality and "savoir faire" are now being recognized. Delfosse Winery offers you high quality, premium, award-winning wine from the best grapes planted on the terraced vineyard sites. Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Chambourcin are being cultivated. Varietal labels are produced from many of these grapes but also focus on creating unique high end Bordeaux style blends such as Meritage, Cuvee Laurent, Grand Cru Olivier, and Reserve d'Oriane. All the wines are hand crafted in small batches, using state-of-the-art-equipment.

42% Cabernet Franc, 28% Petit Verdot, 15% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bottled in March 2007. Released in August 2008. Buy and Hold.
Nose – The classic Bordeaux aromatics of deep red fruits and spice with a hint of toast. Taste –After a year and half in the barrel, this wine has soft elegant flavors that are backed by rich tannins and oak. Food Pairing – As a classic Meritage of great depth and structure, this wine will age nicely for 5-10 years and can be paired with heavy beef dishes.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Estate Bottled. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels. A classic Left Bank Bordeaux..
Bottled in July 2008. Released in September 2008.
Nose – Rich and complex with deep Cabernet fruit aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and vanilla oak. Taste – Smooth textured and well balanced, the tannins blend nicely with the dried currant flavors and black cherry notes. The long elegant finish completes the total package of a true ageworthy classic. Food Pairing – A great match for steak and heavier beef dishes this wine will continue to improve over the next 5-7 years.

Petit Verdot 2007
100% Petit Verdot. Estate Bottled. Aged 10 months in French oak barrels.
One of the five noble Bordeaux grapes, Petit Verdot is a rising star in Virginia. Bottled in July 2008. Released in September 2008.
Nose – Aromas of blackberry, vanilla and a hint of violets with a touch of toast. Taste – This full bodied wine carries firm but mature tannins with pleasing flavors of berries and plum. The oak aging adds a slight toast and vanilla nuance, but does not over power. The depth, structure and acid balance, proves that this is a unique variety for Virginia and is capable of long term aging. Food Pairing – A great match for heavier meats as well as game. This wine will age well. It can be enjoyed now and over the next five years.

Cabernet Franc 2007
100% Cabernet Franc. Estate Bottled. Aged 9 months in neutral French oak barrels.
Bottled in April 2008. Released in February 2010. A Classic Virginia Cabernet Franc
Nose – Hints of red licorice and cherry are complemented by a touch of oak. Taste – The up front tannins give way to some spice notes and a deep concentrated mid-palate. A long dry finish make this a classic and a keeper. Should be best after several years of cellaring Food Pairing – Should be paired with heavier beef dishes.

Merlot 2006
100% Merlot. Aged 11 months in French oak.
Bottled in August 2007. Released in April 2008.
Nose - Hints of rich oak and soft spice backed by notes of plum and cherry. Taste- This very rich, concentrated wine is well structured, with big tannins, that will benefit from cellar time. This wine will age gracefully for the next five to ten years. Food Pairing – This wine will pair well with lighter meats such as veal and lamb or pasta.

Viognier Reserve 2007

Nose – The aromatics are concentrated with peach and apricots, as well as floral notes that liven up the nose. This is a dense wine with many layers of aromatic flavors. Taste – The richness of the peach and dried apricot match nicely with the acidity and a touch of fennel. Very expansive on the palate, with a finish that does not quit. This is a wine that expresses the nature of the Viognier grape with its power and intensity. Food Pairing – A perfect wine for lobster, crab or richer seafood dishes.

Sauvignon Blanc 2008
100% Sauvignon Blanc. Estate Bottled. Aged 7 months in neutral French oak barrels.
Bottled in March 2009. Released in May 2009.
Made in the classic old world style with crisp citrus and floral notes. A popular and versatile wine that works with a wide range of fare.
Nose – Classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas with fresh cut grass and lemon peel. Bright and fresh aromas of melon, lime and spring flowers. Taste – Well structured, with a tangy acidity and grapefruit notes. This is made in the old world style with crispness and vibrancy. The weight on the palate is exceptional for this variety, with abundant citrus and texture. There are some nice earthy notes, minerality and lovely acidity. The wine finishes crisp with great balance. Food Pairing – Ideal for immediate consumption and a great match for shellfish and seafood.
